Itinerary
Day 1: Fez – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga
Our private tour begins with a journey through the Atlas Mountains, with a stop in the town of Ifrane to explore the famous cedar forest, home to the Barbary monkeys. We continue through the Tiz Ntalghamt mountain pass and the Ziz Gorge, where we can stop for photos and enjoy a local mint tea, before reaching Midelt.
The route continues across the Ziz Valley, Erfoud, and Rissani, a traditional oasis. Finally, we arrive at the Erg Chebbi desert dunes to spend the night in a small local riad.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Excursion
Today we explore the desert region around the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will have the chance to learn about the nomadic lifestyle and the striking desert landscapes. We will visit the village of Khamlia to enjoy traditional Gnawa music. For lunch, we will taste a traditional Berber pizza in the ancient capital of Rissani. In the afternoon, we will ride camels across the dunes and spend the night in a desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Fez
After breakfast, we return to Fez. We will stop at the Azrou forest resort, where, if lucky, we may observe some monkeys in their natural habitat. Before concluding the 3-day tour, we will stop for lunch in Midelt, a city famous for its minerals.
