Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Kasbahs – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges
Departure from Marrakech in the morning heading toward the Dades Gorges. Along the way, we will cross the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and pass through numerous Berber nomad villages. We continue to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the desert, then travel through the Valley of the Roses to reach the Dades Gorges, where the famous “Route of a Thousand Kasbahs” begins. Dinner and overnight in the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga
After breakfast at the hotel, we head to the impressive Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with walls over 200 meters high, where we can walk among the rock formations. Afterwards, we continue toward the desert, crossing the Tafilalet palm grove. Arrival in Merzouga, at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, where camels and the camel guide await for a one-and-a-half-hour trek across the dunes to the heart of the desert to watch the sunset. Surrounded by dunes, we enjoy dinner, traditional music, and Moroccan tea under a vast starry sky. Overnight in Berber nomad tents.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Errachidia – Azrou – Fes
After witnessing an unforgettable sunrise in the Sahara Desert, we have breakfast at the camp before returning by camel to Merzouga. The journey continues toward Fes, crossing the heart of the Middle Atlas via the Talghoumt Pass, where nomadic shepherds tend their flocks. We stop at the Cedar Forest – the largest in Morocco – home to Barbary macaques. Next, we pass through Ifrane, known as “Little Switzerland” for its resemblance to a Swiss alpine town. The route ends in the imperial city of Fes.
