3-Day Tour from Fes to the Merzouga Desert and Back
This 3-day tour from Fes to the Merzouga Desert offers a unique experience combining nature, culture, and adventure. The journey begins by crossing the Atlas Mountains, with stops in Ifrane and the Cedar Forest of Azrou, home to the Barbary macaques. Itinerary
Day 1: Fes – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga
Our private tour begins with a journey through the Atlas Mountains, stopping in the town of Ifrane to explore the famous cedar forest, home to Barbary macaques. We continue through the Tiz Ntalghamt mountain pass and the Ziz Valley, pausing for photos and enjoying a local mint tea, before reaching Midelt.
We then follow the Ziz Valley route, passing through Erfoud and Rissani, a traditional oasis town. Upon arrival at the Erg Chebbi dunes, we spend the night in a small local riad.
Day 2: Merzouga Desert Tour
Today we explore the desert region around the Erg Chebbi dunes. You will have the opportunity to experience nomadic life and the striking contrasts of the desert. We visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its Gnawa music. For lunch, we taste a traditional Berber pizza in the ancient capital of Rissani. In the afternoon, we ride camels over the dunes to admire the sunset and spend the night in a desert camp.
Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Fes
After breakfast, we begin the journey back to Fes. We stop at the Azrou Cedar Forest, where, if lucky, you can spot wild monkeys. Before concluding our 3-day tour, we make a stop in Midelt, a town famous for its minerals, to enjoy lunch.
